High blood pressure and its symptoms, which are often difficult to detect, are very dangerous when left untreated and increase the risk of heart disease and strokes. Changing a few things about your diet can help you keep your blood pressure leveled and maintain your blood pressure.

High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is a common condition among many, which can be attributed to certain foods in our diet that have a negative effect on our bodies, such as foods that are high in salt. Blood Pressure U.K has stated that high amounts of salt consumption are the largest cause of blood pressure. While a generous amount of the salt we consumed on a daily basis is often hidden in between processed foods like pizza, burgers, bread or even cereal, we don't even realize how much we may be consuming on a daily basis. 

Josh Axe, a nutritionist, spoke up about how adding certain healthy foods such as coriander, can help relieve high blood pressure and has been used to combat the condition and assist your body in maintaining itself. Adding fresh and healthy fruits to your diet can also help lower high blood pressure, like melons or mangos, and will assist in controlling your blood pressure to keep it at a stable and balanced level. 

The More You Know

On John Axe's website, he states that:  “Consuming fresh fruit (as opposed to juices or sweetened, canned fruits) is a great way to increase your intake of fibre, electrolytes like potassium and magnesium, and antioxidants like flavonoids and resveratrol." He continues to say that “Two to four servings is a good amount for most people, especially fruits like berries, citrus, kiwi, apples and melons.”

Certain foods are to be completely avoided, like those high in sodium and dried fruits. Dried fruits lose their water levels as they dry up, which, while providing better-concentrated nutrients, also leads to more concentrated sugar levels.
