There is an abundance of tricks, diets, and tips for weight loss online, but very few are safe and actually improve weight loss
Lifestyle and health coach JC Doornick recommends that anyone looking for legitimate advice as to how to be healthy and lose weight should avoid any websites or suggestions that don’t promote health.
Doornick says that if an individual is taking stimulants, injections, pills, or subsisting on a dangerously low-calorie diet is concerned solely with weight loss and not at all with health.
A key aspect of finding a happy balance between healthy eating and exercising to be in shape is to find tactics that suit you as an individual. Some individuals may get energy boosts through intermittent fasting, others may end up feeling lethargic.
There are five basic strategies to employ when aiming to lose weight and be the healthiest version of yourself you can be.
Adhering to these strategies can yield health and weight loss benefits in a safe way
Firstly, pursue a work-out program and schedule that you actually enjoy. The CDC recommends the average adult get 150 minutes of exercise weekly or 75 minutes of high-intensity activity. Some people may prefer pilates, others Zumba, and yet others may feel most motivated with a short daily walk.
Secondly, Doornick recommends finding a diet that suits your needs and likes. Of course, vegetables should be included and processed food should be reduced, but the type of diet - intermittent fasting, or reducing carbs - that best works for you depends entirely on what you feel comfortable following in the long-term.
Thirdly, avoid so-called “natural” pills to promote weight loss. Dr. Melinda Manore of Oregon University stated that there are no weight loss products on the market that actually result in meaningful weight loss, and many actually result in unpleasant side effects such as gas, bloating, constipation and more.
Fourthly, consider adding more herbs and spices to your diet. Certain herbs are proven to boost weight loss and positively impact health, such as cinnamon, ginger, black pepper, cayenne peppers, and cumin, to name a few.
Fifthly and finally, take care of your vitamins: although vitamins should ideally be absorbed through food sources, supplements can increase health benefits. Vitamin D, zinc and copper, berberine, and magnesium have the most benefits.
